Face Time with Coconut Oil
It has been established that coconut oil has an abundance of benefits when employed externally on the body and face. A study written in the Journal of the American Contact Dermatitis Society informs that virgin coconut oil is valuable in the treatment of fungi, bacteria and virus, all of these can be capable of causing acne and skin problems. Applying coconut oil on the face to harvest its benefits for the skin is easy, and can be done a lot of different ways.
Coconut Oil Facial Cleansing Step 1
Test coconut oil on an area of skin previous to applying coconut oil to the entire face. This will aid in determining the possibility of any sensitivities or allergies to coconut oil. In order to perform the test, place a small amount (a drop) of coconut oil in the palm of hands, warming it by softly holding hands together. Follow with rubbing the coconut oil on a sensitive skin area, like the inside of the forearm or the neck. If a itching or rash is experienced, do not continue with the coconut oil facial cleansing technique.

Rinse face with warm water and then pat skin dry.

Normal Skin Type: Mix 2 tbsp. of castor oil with 2 tbsp. of coconut oil
Oily Skin Type: Mix 3 tbsp. of castor oil with 1 tbsp. of coconut oil
Dry Skin Type: Mix 1 tbsp. of castor oil with 3 tbsp. of coconut oil
Coconut Oil Facial Cleansing Step 4
Boil 4 -5 cups of water, and then place the water into a large (glass or metal) bowl. Place that bowl in a place where you can comfortably position your face over in order to absorb the steam. When the bowl is in its place, apply the coconut oil mixture to the face, gently massaging as it is being applied. Place a towel over the head and bowl, lowering your face until about 8 inches from the steamy water.

Keep face over the steamy water for about 10 minutes. Use a warm washcloth to clean the coconut oil mixture off face, and proceed to do a final rinse with tepid (lukewarm) water. Use the coconut oil cleansing technique no more than 3 times per week.
Coconut Oil Use and Tips
Coconut oil is antifungal and antiviral, so it is possible that it could draw out toxins through the skin during the initial use. Possibly causing a pimple or two to emerge but continue with the coconut oil cleansing technique and results will become apparent. If you experience redness, severe swelling or itching when using the coconut oil cleansing technique, discontinue use immediately.
